Liahut-Sánchez, Chair of the March in March Taskforce:
Dear Student Leaders & Interested Parties, It is to my displeasure to announce the cancellation of this year's March in March. Since the creation of the March in March Taskforce in early December, organizing the March in March has been an uphill battle due to time constraints and limited resources. We have faced several roadblocks that continually impeded the Student Senate from holding this event for our beloved students; the main issue pertaining to insufficient funding, to which this event would approximately cost $12,000.00 to sustain. This hefty price tag accounts for all the required permits, as stated in the Fall 2015 General Assembly March in March resolution, and additional amenities to host a successful event. All senators were tasked with informing their regions, as well as local student governments, of the possibility of said cancellation and the urgency of donations. Unfortunately, time is up and the required permits are no longer within our reach. We understand the frustration this may have caused. Please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] for any further questions or concerns. |
