Declaration of Establishment for the Yosemite Student Association
At a time when the student leadership of the Yosemite Community College District were looking for ways to expand student representation and participation in district governance, Andrew, Matthew Christman (President of the Associated Students of Columbia College), and Erik Vorstaz (Student Trustee of the Yosemite Community College District) banded together to establish a district-wide student affairs committee. Andrew was a the lead architect of the Deceleration of Establishment for the Yosemite Student Association. Establishment of Student Commissioners
In an effort to diversify the representation of the student body within the Student Senate, five Commissioner positions were authorized via this resolution. Later the Student Senate would adopt bylaw amendments to elevate these Commissioner positions to the rank of Senator. The Compass!
Andrew was very proud to preside over the administration that oversaw the re-establishment of the a campus newsletter. By no means did it fulfill the gap left after the cancellation of the campus newspaper, but it was a good step in the right direction. In Spring of 2014, Andrew partnered with other student leaders and the Modesto Junior College Academic Senate to promote the development of a bike path between the east and west campuses of the college. The bike path has now been fully developed, and is available for student and community use. |
Accreditation Follow-Up Report
At the time, Modesto Junior College had been placed on probation twice by the Accrediting Commission for Community & Junior Colleges. Andrew worked with the rest of campus leadership to realign the campus with accrediting standards where the Commission felt compliance wasn't being met. Andrew was privileged to sign the the Follow-Up Report submitted to the Commission that promoted them to remove all sanctions against the College. Recruitment Procedure
While serving as President, Andrew authored a procedure to more effectively guide the organization in its recruitment of leaders to fill vacant positions. Club Charter Application
Andrew, like many of his predecessors, also took the time to revamp some of the organization's outdated paperwork and forms. Including, but not limited to, the Club Charter Application. Restoration of Confidence in the Academic Senate
Early in the year, the Student Senate had taken a vote of no confidence in the Academic Senate for its refusal to sign on in support of the new campus decision-making document. After the eventual buy-in from the Academic Senate, the Student Senate adopted this resolution to restore full confidence. Andrew would later go on to work very closely with Academic Senate President James Todd to further develop and strengthen the relationship between the two organizations. |
