2014-2015 Year
Every year the Campaign for College Opportunity hosts a Community College Completion Corps. Through the Corps they gather thirty devoted student leaders from across the state to discuss, and try to effect change on one or more issues effecting community college students. During the 2014-2015 Year, the Corps has been looking into the issue of basic skills. Many students starting at a community college find themselves assessment testing into remedial math and English courses, setting them back multiple years in their college careers. With assistance from the Campaign member of the Corps have been advocating on behalf of other students across the state for the passage of bills like AB 770. We hope to see bills like AB 770 become a good step in the right direction of reforming the way basic skills are taught in California Community Colleges.
